About LMTA

 

Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA) is the only major higher education institution in Lithuania which provides educational strands at tertiary level in:
Music (Music Performance, Composition, Music Pedagogy), 
Theatre (Acting, Directing, Dance), 
Audiovisual Art (Directing, Photography, Screenwriting, Sound Directing, Digital Editing), 
Art Studies (Musicology, Ethnomusicology, Film Studies, Theatre Studies, Arts Management). 

Since  the year 2011 Academy offers artistic doctorate (4 year third cycle studies). Founded in 1933, the Academy currently numbers over 940 students.

LMTA is committed to building creative, artistic and research partnerships with local and international institutions, and offering a variety of services to community: 
artistic production events (concerts, theatre and dance performances, film screenings and various festivals), 
non-formal education for children and adults (children music school, small theatre academy, lifeling learning, professional development and distant learning courses, open workshops, seminars and lectures),
community projects (clinica musicalis),
other cultural events (discussion club „Dialogue Factory“, cinema club Šoblės klubas, „Academy on the move“).

LMTA is beautifully situated in the centre of Vilnius and currently has five buildings including study, artistic and research facilities: 3 concert halls, dance studio, film studio, opera studio, IT facilities, library, music technology centre.
