The goal aspired is to provide students with a load and inspiration for participation in the real film creation/management process by initiating it rather than observing from aside or by accepting an offer to participate in some film project. Independent American Film is the most striking and useful example of possible organisation of one’s creative powers in order to secure financing, to write a script, to produce and distribute a film.

Learning outcomes

Having learned about the factor and facts of the origin of the Independent American Film, its development, stories of film birth and origin, the students will broaden their mind, will familiarise themselves with American non- Hollywood film product, creators‘ philosophy, life and sacrifice „in the name of art“.

Upon completion of the course, the students will understand that film-making is possible without waiting for the governmental or ministerial support, existence of other ways to finance film-making costs, to form teams and invite colleagues.  Awareness of the possibilities induces motivation for film-making.

 Description

Most of the time will be devoted for discussion of the materials read at home and films seen. Practical pieces of advice/ development of understanding skills awaiting a manager on the small Lithuanian film market will be among the main goals of the lectures.
