NB! Don’t forget to validate your ticket on the bus/trolley - Vilnius is known with it's strict ticket checkers (Keleivių kontrolė). Fine for driving without valid ticket takes 30 - 100 Lt.
Privately-owned minibuses (Maršrutinis Taksi) run along most bus/trolley routes as well as additional routes. You may get on and off anywhere along the route. They cost 3 Lt (no student discount), which is paid to the driver.
If you are in a hurry, you can always take a taxi. Just be careful of unfair drivers who try to get more money from foreigners. Usually, one kilometer costs 1,50 – 3,00 Lt (as of 2013).
