"Culture Night" at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre

One-night festival "Culture Night“ will take place during the night from 16th to 17th of June. The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre will invite the visitors to enjoy various cultural events, such as readings of poetry and prose, audiovisual installation, piano concert „Black and White“ and a concert where young actors will perfom their own songs.

The events will be held at at the Central building of LAMT (Gedimino pr. 42) from 6 pm to 2 am. The first part of the project is „Readings in the Balcony“ („Skaitymai Balkone“). Contemporary poetry, prose and drama will be read from 6 pm to 8 pm. The authors are Aušra Kaziliūnaitė, Gabrielės Labanauskaitė, Saulius Vasiliauskas, Rokas Povilius, Ramunė Brundzaitė, Diemantė Merkevičiūtė, Lina Simutytė, Evelyna Brėdikytė, Laura Švedaitė and Edvinas Valikonis. In front of the main entrance under the balcony there will be a room with armchairs and a turntable, where the visitors will relax and listen to the readings.

From 8 pm to 10 pm the central facade of the LAMT (V. Kudirkos street) will become the scene of  an audiovisual installation "Reflections". The wall of the building will reflect the environment, while the surround sound system will create a stylized reflection of the city soundscape. City sounds and voices of participants will turn into a reflection of the evening. The authors of the sound installation are Mantautas Krukauskas, Julius Aglinskas, and Jurgis Vytenis Gadliauskas Jarašius. The author of the video installation is Jonas Aliukas.

From 10 pm to 1 am a piano music concert "Black and White" will take place at the square of the Museum of Genocide Victims. The concert has already become a tradition: the iniciator Petras Geniusas organized it eight years ago for the first time. 12 pianists will be playing at the outside stage. At midnight Petras Geniusas will perform three Etudes by Philip Glass. He‘ll also be playing together with Jurgis Karnavičius and the most outstanding pianists of the younger generation Martyna Kloniūnaite and Vincenzo De Martino. The concert will feature pieces by Chopin, Maurice Ravel, Prokofiev, George Gershwin, Anatoly Šenderovas and other composers.

At 1 am in the inner courtyard of the Central Building second-year acting students (Vidas Bareikis class) will perform their own songs. The genres vary between, rock, pop, indie, folk and electronic music. The participants are Aistė Zabotkaitė, Andrius Alešiūnas, Deividas Breivė, Greta Šepliakovaitė, Ieva Stašelytė, Jurgita Maskoliūnaitė, Kamilė Lebedytė, Lyja Maknavičiūtė, Mantas Bendžius, Marius Gotbergas, Matas Dirginčius, Motiejus Ivanauskas, Povilas Jatkevičius, Raimondas Klezys, Roberta Sirgedaitė and Saulė Sakalauskaitė.

In addition to the main program, LAMT will also participate in "Culture Night" projects at the President's Office, the Ministry of Culture and Vilnius Town Hall. At 8 pm at the courtyard of the Presidential Palace the concert „Vox Nord“ will take place.Visitors will hear the performances of The National Prize winner, LAMT Professor Asta Krikščiūnaitė, baritone Stein Skjervold, LAMT MA student Rasa Dzimidaitė and Juris Jope as well as a recently formed ensemble "B2" (Viltė Gineitytė, Kristina Jurevičiūtė, Viktorija Šedbaraitė, Vaidas Bartušas, Ilja Aksionov Daniel Garcia Monteagudo, Jevgenijus Kovalčukas).

Another four events organized by LAMT will be held at the Ministry of Culture: a theater performance by Eglė Švedkauskaitė „Bring Your Potato And Believe“ ("Nešk savo bulvę ir tikėk") and performative readings (IN)DEPENDENCE as well as classical and contemporary music concert "Late junctions“.
