The Department was founded in 1968. The students are provided with the possibilities to perform, prepare recitals, organize concert tours all over Lithuania. The future performers can improve their skills during their credit tests and examinations. The educators recognize the importance of concert practice and continue encouraging their students to perform in public halls. The Department of Concert and Teaching Practice provides favourable opportunities for the future performers to perform in the Academy halls, as well as to be invited to give concerts in different higher and music schools of Lithuania, museums, cultural centres and churches. During a school year the students of the LAMT take part in 490 concerts on average in Lithuania and abroad. The most important concerts, in which the most talented students, teachers and musicians, master class leaders, from abroad perform, are held in the Great Hall of the LAMT. In the school year 2005-2006 a charity concert cycle “Hortus musicus academicus” has been started in the LAMT. The most outstanding Lithuanian performers: teachers of the LAMT and their most talented students take part in it. Concerts to commemorate anniversaries of the most prominent Lithuanian musicians, in memory of important events and State holidays. In the halls of the LAMT international competitions and festivals are held: J Gruodis’ Competition of Piano Accompanists, Competition of Performance of Chamber Music by Lithuanian Composers, Vocal Music Performance (S.Baras, V.Januškaitė-Zaunienė competitions), accordion, folk instruments, J.Heifetz Competition of Violinists, YAMAHA Music Foundation Competition, International Competition of Vocalists and Piano Accompanists, etc. The concerts organized in concert halls of the LAMT (Grand Hall, Minor Hall, Chamber Hall) are free of charge and are intended to the city community. The most significant concerts are recorded and video-filmed and the records are compiled. |
