Birutė Kapustinskaitė

Birutė Kapustinskaitė is a screenwriter and a playwright. She has written several award-receiving short films and five scripts for feature films. In 2017, Birutė Kapustinskaitė was awarded Golden Cross of the Stage for the best playwright of the year for her play Therapies (2017, dir. Kiril Glushayev). Two years later, Birutė Kapustinskaitė’s screenplay for Sasha Was Here, a feature-length film (2018) brought her the best screenplay award at the Festival International du Film d’Aubagne France.

Birutė Kapustinskaitė has presented her screenplays and plays at various international workshops and conferences in Greece, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, England, Estonia, Poland, Sweden, Latvia, and South Africa.

Birutė Kapustinskaitė earned BA in screenwriting from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre  (LMTA) and successfully completed her MA in Literature at the Vilnius University. Now, she teaches screenwriting in the both schools, leads a course for screenwriters, and works as a freelance writer. Together with her colleagues, Birutė has established a writer agency Heads & Hands Scripthouse.
