LMTA invites to live sessions of electronic and electroacoustic music
Dress code: headphones. Yes, your headphones are arguably the paramount accessory if you decide to join “live” electronic and electroacoustic music sessions to be launched by the LMTA. Until April 15, tv.lmta.lt is to live broadcast five events from the LMTA Great Hall, the Balcony Theatre, Julius Juzeliūnas Spatial Sound Sphere, the 2nd floor hallway of the LMTA Central Building and … Finland and France.
Nowadays, the reality is in extremely close interaction with the virtual. In the field of electronic music, the boundary between the two is exceptionally subtle: take, for instance, an artist livestreaming via his or her computer and other sound equipment. Is that a live or virtual event? Obviously, you’d say it’s both live and virtual. For live electronic music professionals, this kind of performance is a usual event; it is much more unusual for the audience who, instead of enjoying the music live at a music club, are now listening to this performance using their devices. For this reason, headphones – and most preferably, the ones boasting outstanding quality – have recently become an integral accessory and an essential element of your dress code.
The LMTA invites all fans of electronic and electroacoustic music to grab this vital accessory to listen and see live performances, created here and now. The electronic music session opened on March 26 featuring an electronic music duo Artfcl (Andrius Laucevičius and Matas Samulionis). And tomorrow, on March 31, you can enjoy livestreaming of the concert by Synth porn / Memorabilia. Having performed for two years now, the duo of Agnès M (Agnė Matulevičiūtė) and Mellow Yellow Daffodil (Edvinas Kopcevas) will now present their two vinyl records. The so-called synth and bedroom pop music interacting with experimental electronic music and synthesiser sounds of the 1980s will counterpoint the scenography of the classical architecture (image and light by Aneta Bublytė). The event starts at 8 pm.
On April 7, watch the live event by Vecera: SubPilot broadcasted from the LMTA Balcony Theatre. The piece by Pauilius Večera, LMTA Year 2 student in Electronic Music, can already boast numerous fans. Paulius aka Vecera debuted in 2018 when he first appeared in the Small Seeds club in the UK, then at festivals Baller Room and Mirga Marga. In 2020, Vecera came up with several concerts on LMTA.TV platform, Culture Night (Kultūros naktis) programme, and Vasarnamis’20 festival. Vecera invites you to join him at 7pm.
On April 9, LMTA TV is to broadcast an international event Manialog & Opiyo Okach. Live from Finland and France, the performers Andrew Bentley (electronics, Finland), Opiyo Okach (visual solutions, Kenya, France) and Alejandro Olarte (electronics, Columbia, Finland) will play music, interacting in real time. The performance starts at 7 pm.
On April 14, the cycle of life performances is to be crowned by Anthony Braxton: Sonic Genome project playing for as long as four hours (mind you, this is a short version of the piece!) livestreamed from the spatially expressive hallway of the 2nd floor of the LMTA Central Building. The music is performed by Rūta Šeduikytė (vibraphone), Povilas Jurkša (trombone), Gediminas Stepanavičius (double bass, trumpet, tuba), Dominykas Snarskis (percussions), Arnas Mikalkėnas (percussions, keyboard), Liudas Mockūnas (saxophone), Covarnis (electronics), Robotic Folk (electronics), and Vilnius Electronic Music Ensemble. Naturally, the performers will follow the social distancing and other safety rules. Anthony Braxton: Sonic Genome is a dedication to acclaimed composer and improviser Anthony Braxton: the Lithuanian performers will play interpretations and variations of several compositions by Braxton. The event starts at 6 pm.
Being a fan of contemporary electronic music, you simply cannot miss this session of live performances where, undoubtedly, you are bound to enjoy not one, but several tendencies of the most listened electronic music.
