Linas Rupšlaukis

Linas Rupšlaukis studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Göteborg Högskolan för scen och musik (Sweden), Conservatorio di Musica Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (Italy), and later, at Vilnius University.

Linas Rupšlaukis is a winner of international competitions; at various festivals and workshops, you may either see him as a participant or as a judge. Trumpeter Linas Rupšlaukis has won several awards in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, and Switzerland. The musician performs as a soloist with different ensembles and works with them as a conductor.  One of the most remarkable achievements of the performer is the 1st place at YAMAHA European Music Foundation Competition 2014/2015 where he also won a scholarship. For several times, Linas Rupšlaukis has been a laureate of the International Trumpet Talents Tallinn Competition (Estonia) and the 1st-place winner of the International Music ​Competition Vēja ritmi (Latvia). He has also taken the 2nd place at the International Chamber Music Competition Musical Aquarelle. In 2019, Linas won the title of the best soloist at the Lithuanian International Wind Instruments Championship after performing his own composition for orchestra and soloist The Gambler (2017). This piece was evaluated as the best in the trumpet and cornet category in the competition organised by the Lithuanian Composers’ Union and received an award. In 2019, at the European Brass Band Championship EuroBrass, Linas Rupšlaukis took the second place.

Composer Linas Rupšlaukis is the winner of the International Competition for Composers CHAMBER CHANCE 2019 (Oumuamua for string instruments and piano). In 2020, his work A Stalemate Lasts But a Moment for percussion ensemble won the competition for composers, while the composition The Bridges for concert wind orchestra was selected the best in the category of the most complex works at the Music Composition Competition Palanga 2020 (Lithuania). In the same year, Linas Rupšlaukis became the winner of the Music Publishing Competition for the Lithuanian composers and in 2021, Linas Rupšlaukis’ compilation of scores of A Stalemate Lasts But a Moment is to be published. In 2020, the European Brass Band Association (EBBC’20) asked the composer to create a special composition for the brass band. The work was named To the Next Century.

Linas Rupšlaukis has received Certificates of Appreciation and Letters of Honour from President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, Mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius, and Rector of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre Professor Zbignevas Ibelgauptas. In 2020, Linas Rupšlaukis was granted the status of Artist Creator by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. Since 2017, the musician has been teaching at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and his students have won nine awards in international competitions in Lithuania, Latvia, and Switzerland. He is an artist of Trimitas Lithuanian State Wind Orchestra.
