LMTA MUSIC STUDIES AWARDED TOP SCORES

In 2021, the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre went through the process of external international assessment of the quality of studies. During the online visits, a team of experts assessed the first cycle (Bachelor’s) and second cycle (Master’s) studies in three study fields: film, music, and theatre.

On 22 April 2021, the first assessment meetings took place: LMTA students in the film studies, their teachers, as well as graduates and their employers met with the international experts. On 11 May, the experts’ visit was dedicated to the assessment of the music studies, and on 13 May – of the theatre studies.

The majority of the LMTA study programmes assessed have been accredited for a period of seven years, and the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC) emphasises that “the studies of the field of music offered at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre have been exceptionally highly rated” and that “the music studies have been awarded particularly high scores”.

On their website skvc.lt, the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education has shared information stating that from the autumn of 2020 to the end of 2021, SKVC conducted assessment of 18 studies in a variety of study fields carried out at higher education institutions – colleges and universities – in Lithuania. In total, as many as 103 decisions regarding the assessment and accreditation of individual higher education institutions, fields of study, and study cycles were made. The studies that have undergone the external assessment by SKVC are currently offered at 10 universities and 11 colleges.
