Project Run by Film Schools and Institutions in the Baltics Steps Up
The LMTA Department of Film and Television in cooperation with Baltic Film, Media and Arts School of Tallinn University, Estonian Filmmakers’ Union, the Latvian Academy of Culture, and a non-profit organisation Lithuanian Shorts are launching a two-year Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership project Film Skills. The project aims at supporting the development of the Baltic film industry and contributing to the training of assisting staff for film crews.
Assoc. Prof. Vytautas Dambrauskas, Head of the LMTA Department of Film and Television, says that quite recently, the film industry of the Baltic countries has seen rapid development. Lithuania has hosted both foreign and national film production. However, such notable advance makes Lithuania and other Baltic countries experience a shortage of labour and other issues due to the lack of skilled staff in film production.
The aim of the two-year project Film Skills is to define strict standards for film professionals and prepare their descriptions, rise awareness about job opportunities in film industry, and organise relevant training.
The kick-off meeting of Film Skills partners takes place in Tallinn on 8-9 March 2022.
