ART AND HEALTH’2023 PROGRAMME

2023 February 6. Monday (the time shown in the provisional timetable)
LMTA, Zoom platform

Introducing the traditional preparatory course for non-formal adult education “Art and Health’2023”. Non-formal adult education programme for professionals in music, dance, drama, art and health and other related professions (psychology, social work, social pedagogy, special education, preschool and primary education) who work and intend to work in healthcare, social services and special education settings with people of all ages with physical, mental or social health problems.

Over the last two decades, there has been a growing amount of research on the impact of the arts on health and well-being. More than 3,000 studies in Europe show that the arts play an important role in prevention, health promotion and the management and treatment of disease. The 2019 World Health Organisation report (WHO Health Evidence Network synthesis report 67. What is the evidence on the role of the arts in improving health and well-being? A scoping review) recommends promoting the inclusion of the arts at individual, local and national levels and supporting intersectoral collaboration.

“Art and Health” is a preparatory course for applicants to the Master’s programme in Art Therapy at VU-LMTA and for all those interested in the effects of art on health.
