LECTURE “HOW I CREATE MY CONCERT PROGRAMMES”
The lecture will be given by pianist, pedagogue and concert producer GINTARAS JANUŠEVIČIUS (Lithuania / Germany)
For a decade, the name of pianist Gintaras Januševičius has been associated with narrative/programmatic recitals. By carefully selecting works for his programmes, paying attention to their combination, to the integrity of the concert, and enriching the action on stage with talking to the audience and theatrical elements, he creates a distinctive and unique genre of recital. He has successfully presented his programmes throughout Europe, as well as in New York, Rio de Janeiro, Hamamatsu and other cities around the world. His most popular recitals are Dreamcatcher (2014), All Chopin Waltzes (2015), The New Colossus (2019), Stories of the Merchant of Venice (2022), and his latest programme The Little Prince, based on the novel by A. de Saint-Exupery, debuted in 2023. In his lecture “How I create my concert programmes”, G. Januševičius presents his working process and reveals the elements of programme development and the importance of working with the audience.
The lecture series is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
