LMTA belongs to FilmEU, the European university alliance. It is an alliance that creates bridges between institutions and countries and promotes cooperation between institutions, development and exchange of experience. It is the most positive and transformative higher education initiative to date for this sector in Europe.

FilmEU’s main goals are to transform, nurture and grow, connect, empower, support, create, learn, explore, innovate.

FilmEU is an association of eight leading higher education institutions from European Member States. It is managed by Lusófona University from Portugal, other institutions involved: VŠMU – Academy of Performing Arts, Slovakia, TLU – Tallinn University, Estonia, LMTA – Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy, LUCA School of Arts in Belgium, VIA University College, Denmark, IADT – Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology in Ireland, NATFA, National Academy of Film and Theater, Bulgaria.

Over the next ten years, FilmEU aims to create what will shape the audiovisual arts education landscape in Europe and beyond. FilmEU will have a significant impact on all participating institutions, as well as on the cultural and creative sectors and industries in Europe and beyond. This will have a positive impact on society as we are constantly talking about topics such as sustainability, inclusion and climate change, research mobility, innovation and digital transformation in the alliance. Similar to the relationship between the EU itself and national states, EU universities in the FilmEU alliance will immediately co-exist with our country’s institutions and benefit everyone.

Cinema is an essential part of our cultural environment. Cinema as a medium allows us to share ideas, feelings and knowledge. FilmEU not only ensures that Europe can tell its stories, but also that the creative industries are at the forefront of economic and social well-being. Also, the alliance aims to raise the limits of scientific research, innovation and enterprise opportunities. FilmEU was created in an age that can create a just society and economy. We have a unique opportunity to ensure that the film and media arts are catalysts for education, culture and entrepreneurship that promote the common good in society.
