CONCERT OF THE PROJECT “ON THE TRAIL OF POLISH SONORISM”

2024 September 28, 19:00
LMTA Juozas Karosas Hall (Gedimino Ave. 42, Vilnius)

CONCERT OF THE PROJECT “ON THE TRAIL OF POLISH SONORISM”

The project “On the Trail of Polish Sonorism” is our invitation to young composers of various nationalities to interest them in this movement in Polish music that was predominant in the 1960s. It was the time of sonoristic experiments by composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Kazimierz Serocki, or Witold Szalonek. But sound and its beginning, the way of producing it, colour, duration, and sonority are all very much at the centre of composers’ interests, and in this sense we are all sonorists. By presenting masterpieces of Polish sonorism, both within recitals and workshops on contemporary performance techniques, we wish to inspire young composers. We observe the young generation with great curiosity – their fascination with sound, their searches and decisions they will make: to seek sonorism in the future or in inspirations with past periods. The project is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland from the Culture Promotion Found and is being realised under media patronage of Polish Music Information Center POLMIC.
