GUEST FROM POLAND: PROF. ZDZISŁAW ŁAPIŃSKI (CELLO) MASTERCLASS

Professor hab. dr. Zdzisław Łapiński (cello) is a laureate of international cello and chamber music competitions in Italy, Poland and France. He studied at the Music Academies in Krakow, Poznan and Yale University (USA).

As a soloist and chamber musician he has performed in France, Italy, Switzerland, Yugoslavia, USA, Brazil, Germany and Malta.

From 1979 to 2012, he was, intermittently, Concertmaster of the Capella Cracoviensis Chamber Orchestra in Kraków, the Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra in Kraków, and the cello bands of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice.

Founder of the cello ensemble CANTABILE, the ensemble Primo Allegro. Invited to juries of national and international competitions.

Head of the cello and double bass department at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Krakow, guest professor at the Central Conservatory in Beijing. Conceiver and organiser of the International K. Penderecki Cello Competition, organiser of the Cello Music Festival “Krakowska wiosna wiolonczelowa”. From 2012 to 2016 he was the Rector of the Academy of Music in Krakow. At the same time, he was the vice-president of the Association of Baltic Music Academies ABAM.
