In Klaipėda – International Conference of the European Network for Music Educators and Researchers
From May 14 to 17, the 12th international conference of the European Network for Music Educators and Researchers of Young Children (EuNet MERYC) “Musical Play for and by Children” took place at the Klaipėda Faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
The conference focused on interdisciplinary research and the dissemination of innovations in music education, combining theoretical presentations and practical workshops. Held over four days, the event brought together 100 music education researchers and practitioners from 22 countries across four continents. This year’s theme invited participants to explore how musical play becomes a natural and effective way for children to learn, grow, and discover themselves and others. During the four-day conference, 32 presentations were delivered, 8 practical workshops conducted, and 2 symposia organized. Participants also had the opportunity to experience Lithuania’s musical culture and educational traditions, including visits to kindergartens and attendance at four concerts showcasing Lithuanian cultural heritage.
