GUEST FROM CANADA: DR. NOAM LEMISH CREATIVE WORKSHOP

A pianist, improviser, composer, and educator actively creating on the international stage. His music combines jazz, Middle Eastern musical traditions, and contemporary improvisation. The artist performs worldwide, composes for various ensembles, and teaches at York University, with a special focus on transcultural music and creative collaboration.

Participants will explore:

  • the practical application of jazz harmony
  • principles of ensemble performance
  • the development of improvisation in different stylistic contexts
  • the role of the piano in an ensemble and in the creative process
  • the integration of elements from different musical cultures into contemporary improvisation.

The workshop will be practical in nature, with active participant involvement and music-making.

Instrumentalists, vocalists, and anyone interested in improvisation and creative applications of music are invited to participate.
