Dainius Pavilionis

Dainius Pavilionis (b. 1977) is a conductor. In 1992, Dainius Pavilionis entered the Kaunas Juozas Gruodis Conservatory to study choir conducting and later continued his studies at the LMTA under the supervision of Professor Povilas Gylys. He also studied symphony orchestra and opera conducting with Professor Juozas Domarkas and in 2006 graduated from the Academy with an MA of Music. Upon his graduation, Dainius Pavilionis was invited to teach in his alma mater at the Department of Conducting and since 2017, he has acted as the head of the department.

The musical society took early notice of the aspiring conductor: since 2006, Dainius Pavilionis has been the second conductor of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Headquarters Band; besides, he has been invited to work with two major symphony orchestras in Vilnius – the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. In 2010-2015, he was the principal conductor of the Klaipeda State Musical Theatre. Dainius Pavilionis also gets invitations to work with foreign symphony orchestras in Poland, Portugal, Italy, and Belarus. Since 2019, he has acted as Artistic Director of Torun Symphony Orchestra in Poland.

In October 2006, Dainius Pavilionis was awarded with the third prize at the 4th Witold Lutosławsky International Competition for Young Conductors in Białystok (Poland). In 2007, the conductor took the sixth place at the famous Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors.
