Darius Šilėnas

Darius Šilėnas graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2015 with an MA in Film Directing and since 2011, has worked as a freelance montage director. In 2019, Darius Šilėnas joined the LMTA teaching team and in 2020, together with Vytautas Dambrauskas, an advertising director and the coordinator of the LMTA Montage study programme, welcomed the first group of students in Montage Directing.

Darius Šilėnas has extensive experience with Lithuanian films embracing a wide range of genres, from feature and documentary films to experimental cinema, and concert visualisations. He has worked with Lithuanian directors Emilis Vėlyvis, Kristijonas Vildžiūnas, Elena Kairytė, Titas Laucius, Emilija Škarnulytė, Kęstutis Gudavičius, Justas Ramanauskas, Justinas Krisiūnas, Marius Kunigėnas, and Saulius Baradinskas.

Besides, Darius Šilėnas has worked as a montage assistant at international joint projects such as TV mini-series Tokyo Trial (Netflix) and a feature film Tarp pilkų debesų (the English title Ashes in the Snow).

In 2020, Darius Šilėnas was nominated for the Lithuanian Film Awards for the best editing director in the feature-length film Širdys (the English title I want to Live).

Darius Šilėnas also edits music videos and TV commercials.
