Giedrė Beinoriūtė (1976) is a film director. She studied film directing at the LMTA Faculty of Theatre and Film and since 2002 has worked as a director and screenwriter. Giedrė Beinoriūtė’s feature and documentary films reveal social and historical topics and give particular attention to the relationships within a family. Critics and viewers distinguish the children’s characters exceptionally portrayed in Giedrė Beinoriūtė’s films.

In 2018, Giedrė Beinoriūtė defended dissertation to become the first Doctor of Arts (Film) in Lithuania. The topic of her research is The Portrayal of Children in Film: Directing Aspect. In the same year, the six-year-old actor who played the boy Ilya in Giedrė Beinoriūtė’s film Kvėpavimas į marmurą (English title: Breathing into Marble) received the Lithuanian Film Silver Crane Award for the best supporting role. In 2006, Giedrė Beinoriūtė won the award by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania for the best debut in professional art (films Egzistencija (Existence) and Vulkanovka. Po didžiojo kino (Vulkanovka. After the Grand Cinema).  In 2005, 2007, and 2018, director Giedrė Beinoriūtė received the award by the Lithuanian Filmmakers Union (films Vulkanovka. After the Grand Cinema, Gyveno senelis ir bobutė (Grandpa and Grandma), and Breathing into Marble). In 2012, Giedrė Beinoriūtė’s film Pokalbiai rimtomis temomis (Conversations on Serious Topics), a minimalist documentary essay picturing conversations with children on existential issues, was selected to officially represent Lithuania to compete for the Oscar Best Foreign Language Film Award.

In 2021, director Giedrė Beinoriūtė received the National Cultural and Art Award. Since 2004, Giedrė Beinoriūtė has been a member of the Guild of Directors of the Lithuanian Filmmakers Union. Since 2014, she has been a member of the European Film Academy as well as a member of the jury of international film festivals and competitions.

In 2007, Giedrė Beinoriūtė joined the LMTA teaching staff and since then has been teaching a wide range of cinematography-related subjects to aspiring film directors at the Department of Film and Television. In 2018, she earned the title of Associate Professor, in 2019-2021, Giedrė Beinoriūtė acted as Head of the Department of Film and Television.
