Giedrė Kirkilė

Assoc. Prof. and Head of the LMTA Department of Dance and MovementSubjects: Contemporary Dance Technique, Improvisation, Contact Improvisation. Languages: English (C1), Russian (C1).


Giedrė Kirkilė has an MA in Culture Management. She is a self-taught professional dancer with a broad knowledge, skills, and extensive experience in contemporary dance. In 2008, Giedrė Kirkilė was awarded a title of professional dance artist by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. In 2016, she received an award from the Lithuanian Contemporary Dance Association as the best dancer of the season.

Since 2004, Giedrė Kirkilė has danced at Vytis Jankauskas Dance Company. The theatre has been awarded twice with Golden Cross of Stage for the best choreography of the year. Currently, Giedre works as a freelance dance artist.

Since 2014, Giedrė Kirkilė has been teaching dancers and actors at the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy and is actively involved in the development of the curriculum of the LMTA dance studies.

Giedrė Kirkilė teaches contemporary dance technique focusing on movement flow, effortlessness, body awareness, and alignment. She also teaches improvisation with emphasis on space and movement exploration, and contact improvisation.
