Romas Matulis

Associate Professor at the Department of Theatre of the LMTA Klaipėda Faculty. Subjects: Event directing; The preparation and management of cultural and artistic projects; The strategic development of cultural and artistic organizations.; Cultural policy. Languages: Lithuanian – mother tongue; Russian (B2); English (A2); German (A2). 


In collaboration with the Department of Theatre of the LMTA Klaipėda Faculty, Romas Matulis organizes the International Children and Youth Theatre Festival-Creative Laboratory “Little Melpomene” and Republican Cultural Education–Theater Action Project “Open Theater 24”.

Romas Matulis is the director of the Saula Children’s and Youth Theater. This theatre has represented Plunge and Lithuania at international festivals and world theater forums in Japan, Finland, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, Russia and other countries.

Romas Matulis is also the President of the Association of Lithuanian Cultural Centers, a member of the Lithuanian Culture and Arts Council, and a member of the Council of Cultural Centers of the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture.

Romas Matulis has been awarded for his active artistic, cultural and expert activities by the prizes of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania (2006; 2008), also with the badge of honor “Bring your light and believe” (2012) and the Knight’s Cross of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas Order – “For Merits to Lithuania” (2021).
