LMTA Researchers and Performers to Participate in the International Doctors in Performance Festival-Conference in Helsinki

The LMTA community once again marks its presence on the international stage – the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA) is proud to announce its participation in the prestigious Doctors in Performance (DiP) Festival-Conference, taking place in early September at the Helsinki Music Centre. Dedicated to artistic research and performance, this international event holds special significance for LMTA: in 2018, our Academy had the honor of hosting it in Vilnius.
This year, LMTA representatives are contributing a wide range of topics and are actively engaged in the program:
- Prof. Dr. Lina Navickaitė-Martinelli – member of the DiP Steering Committee and chair of one of the sessions.
- Violinist Lora Kmieliauskaitė presents the paper “The Group Genius Seeks an Individual Body.”
- Matas Samulionis delivers a lecture-recital “Encoding and Decoding the Performance.”
- Yusuke Ishii presents a lecture-recital “Stylistic Plurality and Performance Practice in Vytautas Bacevičius’s Works for Piano.”
- Pianist Neringa Valuntonytė delivers the paper “Embodied Stage Persona: Exploring the Interplay of Authenticity and Character Creation in Piano Performance.”
- Vincenzo De Martino explores recurring pianistic techniques and gestures in the works of Lithuanian composer Stasys Vainiūnas.
For LMTA scholars and performers, participation in this festival-conference is not only an opportunity to present their research and artistic work to an international audience but also to contribute to ongoing discussions about the role of artistic research in contemporary musical culture.
The event is organized by the University of the Arts Helsinki.
