Klaipėda Faculty celebrates 50th anniversary. Discover. Learn. Experience.

The LMTA Klaipėda Faculty that merged with the LMTA just several years ago celebrates its 50th anniversary! The Klaipeda Faculty —a leader of performing arts studies in Western Lithuania —is to reveal its artistic identity throughout a series of celebration events that are going to take place for almost a month (May 19-June 18) under the motto Discover. Learn. Experience

Established in 1971, the Music Faculties in Klaipėda became part of the then Lithuanian State Conservatory in 1975. For 22 years, until 1997, the Faculties offered education to music education professionals, choreographers, and directors of amateur theatres. In 1997–2018, the Faculties were a subdivision of the Klaipėda University and eventually were transformed into the Academy of Arts of the Klaipėda University. In 2018, the Klaipėda Faculty again joined the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, thus becoming one of the three LMTA faculties, alongside the Faculty of Music and the Faculty of Theatre and Film.

The 50th Anniversary programme was opened in the morning of May 19 at the KF Learning Theatre by the performance Įkrauti (Charged), the final exam of the third-year students in Directing (lecturer Darius Rabašauskas).  On May 20, the courtyard of the Klaipeda faculty hosted a concert Let’s Make Music Together featuring students of Eduardas Balsys Gymnasium of Arts, Klaipėda Stasys Šimkus Conservatory, and those of the LMTA Klaipėda Faculty (KF).

The event is to take place in the Klaipėda Sculpture Park near the Klaipėda Centre of National Cultures. If the weather does not permit for the outside event, the concert will take place in the LMTA KF Concert Hall.
