The play tells a story of Jackie, the woman who was observed by the public. Her gestures, maniers and actions were widely discussed and commented in the media, her image formed fashion and culture trends as well as the so-called good taste. The play uses biographical facts to reveal the woman’s inner feelings, experiences and their consequences when she was put under a magnifying glass and people knew and engaged in the stories of her husband’s John F. Kennedy’s adventures with other women, her miscarriage and, finally, the death and funeral of the United States president.
Society’s pressure caused Jackie stress, fear and anxiety. It cramed her into a role that she tried to fulfill in the fear of tainting her husband’s well-crafted image and status as well as hoping to uphold the portrait of the youngest First Lady – Jacqueline Kennedy.
