Intensive Nordplus course is held at the LMTA

Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre coordinates three year Nordplus higher education project, intensive course „Vocal Phonetics“. First year project, dedicated to Russian phonetics, takes place in Vilnius from April 3rd to 9th. Nineteen students from Sweden, Estonia and Latvia, and four from Lithuania participate in the course.

Introductory lesson on Russian phonetics was given by Viktoria Pehk-Ivascenko (Vytautas Magnus University) on April 4th. Open masterclass presented by professor of the LMTA Algirdas Janutas at the Music Innovation Studies Centre. Lecturer of the Theatre and Film Faculty Ieva Labanauskaitė has been doing morning trainings of Laugther Yoga.

Students were learning Russian repertoire during the individual lessons with vocal teachers and piano coaches. Teachers form partner schools – Music and Drama Academy of the Gothenburg University, Stockholm University of Arts, Estonian Academy  of Music and Theatre and Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music work at “Vocal Phonetics” course: Zigrida Kriegere (singing, Latvia) and  Leldde Tirele (pianist accompanist, Latvia), Irina Oja (pianist accompanist, Estonia), Martin Hellström and Jaroslaw Kaliski (opera coachers, Sweden), Margarita Levtchuk (singing, Byelorussia) and Marina Tchyzhenko (singing, Ukraine), LMTA vocal professor Algirdas Janutas and pianist accompanist Lina Giedraitytė, LMTA vocal teacher Stein Skjervold and pianist accompanist Birutė Asevičiūtė.

At the end of the courses, on 8th of April, Friday, at 5 pm, final concert of the “Vocal Phonetics” course will be organized at the Juozas Karosas Hall of the Academy’s central building (Gedimino Av. 42) were students will present selected pieces from their current repertoire by Haydn, Lencavallo, Mozart, Strauss, Puccini, Sibelius and other composers.
