22ND INTERNATIONAL MUSIC THEORY CONFERENCE “PRINCIPLES OF MUSIC COMPOSING: ASPECTS OF COMMUNICATION”

On 16–18 November 2022, the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Lithuanian Composers’ Union organize the 22nd International Music Theory Conference “Principles of Music Composing: Aspects of Communication”. This year’s conference will include speakers from Austria, Ghana, Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, Poland, Lithuania, Portugal, Sakartvelo, Serbia, Ukraine and Germany. Twenty-four papers will be presented over the three days of the conference, exploring various aspects of music composition and communication. 

Traditionally, the theoretical part of the conference is accompanied by a concert programme. On November 16, at 6 p.m. the concert The Unidentified Music Cycles of M. K. Čiurlionis” will take place at the Great Hall of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. It will be performed by students of Prof. Jurgis Karnavičius’ class.  On November 17, at 7 p.m. the concert “In Memoriam” will take place at St. Casimir’s Church. The concert will feature works by M. K. Čiurlionis, M. Baranauskas, V. Germanavičius, R. Janeliauskas, J. Jurkūnas, A. Mikoliūnas, R. Motiekaitis, and M. Natalevičius, performed by K. Juodelytė (organ), D. Kazonaitė (soprano), L. Lapė (trumpet), and A. Gražulis (trombone).
