Part of the program of the international contemporary and improvisational music festival-workshop “ContemPLAY”
Performers: Festival-workshops’ final concert of Erasmus+ courses students from Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Lithuania 
ContemPLAY is a new international creative festival-workshop for contemporary experimental and improvisational music, emphasising creativity, interfering with existing contemporary music and jazz festivals and providing a platform for a vibrant free improvisation scene. The axis of the festival-workshop is the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, the students and lecturers of contemporary music performance and improvisation and composition study programmes, also the Centre for Music Innovation Studies, complemented by organizations LENsemble and Improdimensija. Vilnius hosts prominent artists and their students from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Estonia.
We are sure that this year’s event, which will take place from 5-11 February, will become one of the most significant musical impulses for the communities of various contemporary music trends. Wrapped in the form of concerts, improvisation evenings, lectures, and workshops, ContemPLAY will embody the first festival of this format in the history of Lithuanian contemporary music, which we hope will become a continuing platform.
WelcomePLAY, ImprodimensijaPLAY, LENsemblePLAY, SinfoPLAY, ElectroPLAY, JamPLAY, ContemPLAY – each evening of the festival-workshop will welcome the audience in a new musical form, and throughout the days, of exclusive lectures by renowned European musicians, composers, and creators such as Alexander Grebtschenko, Friederike Scheunchen, Johannes Schölhorn, Theodore Parker, Karen Vanhercke will inspire the audience with new creative ideas. In addition to these renowned artists coming from all over Europe, during ContemPLAY, famous Lithuanian artists such as Vykintas Baltakas, Mantautas Krukauskas, Liudas Mockūnas, Arnas Mikalkėnas will share their expertise and creativity in the form of workshops and lectures. The new creative faces of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre will also join the party of the artists.
The joint creative group of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Improdimensija, LENsemble invites you to experience the phenomenon that will enlighten the Lithuanian music world on 5-11 February and to be inspired by the creative energy of contemporary academic, experimental and improvisational music.
