CONTEMPORARY DANCE AND MOVEMENT DISORDERS: WORKSHOP FOR LMTA STUDENTS
On May 23rd from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, we invite you to a workshop organized by the Lithuanian Dance Information Centre, dedicated to exploring the application of contemporary dance in working with people who have movement disorders or Parkinson’s disease.
The workshop is part of the international project Dance Well. The aim of this project is to promote the integration of people with movement disorders into society, cultural dialogue, and the strengthening of culture as a tool for (self-)support, through creative processes, contemporary dance techniques, and international experience. Since 2022, regular contemporary dance classes for individuals experiencing mobility difficulties have been held in Kaunas as part of this project.
During the workshop you will hear theoretical insights into Parkinson’s disease, the international experience of Dance Well and the etiquette of interacting with people with mobility disabilities. In the second part of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to experience a practical Dance Well lesson taught by professional dancers and choreographers who teach dance classes in Kaunas.
The workshop will be held in English
For the dance class part, we recommend wearing comfortable, non-restrictive clothing.
The workshop is free of charge, but registration is required here: https://forms.gle/RxREWcaghDaJxHCu6
