LECTURE BY MATT ADAMS, CREATOR OF INTERACTIVE ART
The lecture is intended for doctoral and master’s students

Matt Adams is one of the three members of the British interactive art collective “Blast Theory”.

“Blast Theory” explores the importance of digital media in today’s life, which is why their viewers constantly have to use smartphones, computers, and other technologies. Balancing between reality and fiction, the creators of “Blast Theory” dissolve the boundaries between theater, performance, cinema, interactive media and games that intertwine real and virtual environments (pervasive games). For example, in 1997 artists invited the audience to register for the “Kidnapping” lottery, the winners of which were unexpectedly kidnapped and locked in a room for two days – the whole process was filmed and broadcast live on the Internet. Since 1998 the group cooperates with researchers from the University of Nottingham, together they created several projects and wrote more than 40 scientific papers.

At the meeting, Matt Adams will talk about the collective’s work, focusing on two recent works: “Cat Royale”, an utopia where cats coexist perfectly with artificial intelligence, and “Spit Spreads Death”, a huge parade organized in Philadelphia (USA) in memory of the victims of the 1918 flu epidemic.

The lecture will be held in English without translation.

Lecture is free!
