AN EVENING OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC BY THE COMPOSER MARTYNAS BIALOBŽESKIS

Martynas Bialobžeskis is a Lithuanian composer, best known for his music for theatre and cinema. His biography includes music for more than 70 plays and 15 films.

Although less visible, his electronic and electroacoustic works also occupy an important place in his musical history, which is varied in styles and genres At the same time, Martynas has always been in search of a unique style. “Martynas Bialobžeskis’ work is nourished by four main sources: academic, theatre, club music and the search for a specific sound, none of which is preferred by the author (Eglė Grigaliūnaitė)”.

The composer’s first album „Sunny. Bit Windy“ was released in September 2022. It is a compilation of Martynas’ works for cinema, theatre and experimental stage. The album could be described as an example of ambient or drone; however, according to the composer himself, it is a bit more than just a collection – it is united not only by a similar style of music, but also by the composer’s attraction to using music to express different emotional states. The title is perhaps the clearest description of the author’s nature: sunny skies, a bit windy and gloomy storm clouds in the distance – one of Martynas’ favourite natural landscapes.

On 9 February, the composer invites you to come together in this landscape: Martynas Bialobžeskis’s evening of electronic music starts at 7 pm at the Educational Theatre of the Klaipėda Faculty of Music of the LMTA. After the concert, the audience will be able to ask questions to the composer, who hopes to find answers.
