Judita Kiaulakytė

In 1978, Judita Kiaulakytė graduated from the then Lithuanian State Conservatory (now – LMTA) as a professional choir conductor and a teacher of choral disciplines. In 1988, Judita Kiaulakytė joined the teaching team of the Faculty of Arts at the Klaipėda University, and since 2018 has worked at the LMTA Klaipėda Faculty where she teaches conducting to bachelor and master students.
Judita Kiaulakytė is a member of the evaluation committees at national and international vocal ensemble competitions, the National Music Olympiad for Students, and the Lithuanian Secondary School and Gymnasium Mixed Choir Competition (2013-2016). Judita Kiaulakytė is also a member of the committee that evaluates the activity of the experts and organisers of the Baltic Song Celebrations. In 2012-2014, Judita Kiaulakytė was the manager of the project Improving the Quality and Expanding the Internationalisation of Bachelor’s and Master’s Studies in Music Pedagogy at the Faculty of Arts of the Klaipeda University.
Judita Kiaulakytė has developed and published several books and collections of music scores: a textbook Lietuvių chorinė muzika vaikams ir jaunimui (Lithuanian Choral Music for Children and Youth) (2007), choral music collections Mes – klaipėdiškiai (We are from Klaipėda) (2008), a collection of arrangements for girls’ choir Gediminas Purlys „Leisk priartėti“ (Gediminas Purlys. Let Me Come Closer) (2014). She has also released CDs Klaipėdietiškos metamorfozės (Metamorphoses of Klaipeda) (2004) and Mes – klaipėdiškiai (We are from Klaipėda) (2008).
Conductor Judita Kiaulakytė led the Girls’ Choir of the Faculty of Arts at the Klaipėda University (2007–2012), and the vocal group of the music ensemble Žilvinas (1998–2013). Since 2013, she has led the Klaipėda women’s choir Dangė. The choir Dangė is the winner of several international choir competitions such as, among others, in Szczecin (2015), Sopot (2016) (Poland); Prague (Czech Republic, 2016); Barcelona (Spain, 2016); Zadar (Croatia, 2018); and Istanbul (Turkey, 2019).
In 2017, the choir Dangė received the Aukso paukštė (Golden Bird) Award by the Lithuanian National Culture Centre in the nomination The Best Adult Choir and its Leader. Besides, the choir is the winner of the 1st -degree diploma in the competition of Lithuanian adult choirs.
Judita Kiaulakytė has been actively engaged in a variety of international projects: meetings of women’s choirs of Klaipėda, Liepaja, Salzburg, and Vilnius and their friendship concerts for the audiences in Lithuania, Italy, and Austria (2017); Baltic Women’s Choir Meeting (2018); and the meeting of Lithuanian and Latvian Women’s Choir The Baltic Way 30 (2019).
