The conversation will be moderated by theater critic and researcher, LAMT Art and Science Vice-Rector Ramunė Balevičiūtė.

CONVERSATIONS IN THE GREAT HALL

The conversation is moderated by Lithuanian film and theater critic Rasa Paukštytė.
This year we celebrate the anniversary of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater – 90 years!
During this anniversary year, a series of 8 “Talks in the Great Hall” by different generations of artists will be held. Pianists Petras Geniušas and Lukas Geniušas, opera soloists Irena Milkevičiūtė and Asmik Grigorian, composers Mindaugas Urbaitis and Raminta Naujanytė-Bjelle, film directors Algimantas Puipa and Laurynas Bareiša, actresses Nelė Savičenko and Jovita Jankelaitytė, theater directors Gintaras Varnas and Antanas Obcarskas, actors Valentinas Masalskis and Matas Dirginčius, contemporary dance creators Aira Naginevičiūtė-Adomaitienė and Greta Grinevičiūtė will meet in a confrontation between two intelligent and creative generations. Meetings will be conducted by well-known Lithuanian musicologists, theater experts and film critics.
On the evening of February 21st, we invite you to listen to a dialogue between film directors Algimantas Puipa and Laurynas Bareiša, which will be moderated by Lithuanian film and theater critic Rasa Paukštytė.

Conversations in the Great Hall is a series of talks that bring together acknowledged masters and aspiring young artists. The interviews are held in the Great Hall of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. The cycle is part of the festive programme dedicated to the Academy’s 90th anniversary.
The first night of Conversations in the Great Hall was held on the eve of the 2023, the anniversary year. On 20 December 2022, the host of the meeting, LMTA Rector, musicologist, Doctor of Humanities, Associate Professor Judita Žukienė was having a conversation with Professor Vytautas Landsbergis, LMTA Doctor of Honour, art, music and culture historian, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania. Professor is also celebrating his honorable 90th anniversary, so the conversation in the Great Hall was an occasion to congratulate the long-time LMTA lecturer and one of the most prominent LMTA alumni on his birthday.

On 27 January 2023, the Great Hall hosted an interview with distinguished pianists, representatives of the second and third generations of the well-known Lithuanian dynasty of musicians, LMTA professors Petras and Lukas Geniušai. Who, if not a father and a son, can testify to the ability of two generations to have a conversation? The talk with the two pianists was set up by Gerūta Griniūtė, a radio and TV presenter, and an LMTA alumni.

On 21 February, took place with an interview hosted by a well-known film critic Rasa Paukštytė who was having a conversation with Lithuanian cinematography masters, film directors belonging to different generations: the Lithuanian National Prize winner, LMTA professor Algimantas Puipa, and Laurynas Bareiša, an LMTA Associate Professor, who won the Lithuanian State Award just a week before.

The cycle on 17 March continues an interview with renowned Lithuanian theatre directors – Professor at the LMTA Klaipėda Faculty Gytis Padegimas and LMTA doctoral student Aleksandras Špilevojus. The talk with the two directors will set up by a well-known theatre critic, LMTA Vice-Rector, Doctor of Humanities, Associate Professor Ramunė Balevičiūtė.
The cycle of Conversations in the Great Hall is going to continue and feature distinguished Lithuanian and world culture representatives: opera soloists Irena Milkevičiūtė and Asmik Grigorian, composers Mindaugas Urbaitis and Raminta Naujanytė-Bjelle, actresses Nelė Savičenko and Jovita Jankelaitytė, actors Valentinas Masalskis and Matas Dirginčius, contemporary dance creators Aira Naginevičiūtė-Adomaitienė and Greta Grinevičiūtė. The interviews are to be hosted by well-known Lithuanian musicologists, theatrologists and cinematographers.
Conversations in the Great Hall are open for the public and are free of charge.
