Algirdas Janutas

Algirdas Janutas is a professional singer (tenor) who has performed with world-famous singers such as José van Dam, Barbara Bonney, Anatoly Kocherga, Olga Borodina, Sergei Leiferkus, Alfred Muff, and Hermann Christian Polster.

Algirdas Janutas has sung under distinguished conductors Michel Plasson, Günther Herbig, Gerd Albrecht, Justus Frantz, Jehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Saulius Sondeckis, Jonas Aleksa, Yuri Temirkanov, Alexander Vedernikov, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Tamás Vásáry, Andris Nelsons, among others.

The singer has acted in staged performances directed by Nicolas Joël, Ralf Långbackale, and Stein Winge.

Together with the world-famous actor Claus Maria Brandauer, Algirdas Janutas has appeared in Arnold Schönberg’s Gurrelieder staged at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. He has also sung at the Teatr Wielki of Warsaw, Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, Théâtre du Capitol in Toulouse, Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos in Lisbon, and Teatro Nuovo Verona.

The tenor has been heard on the stages of prestigious halls such as, among others,  Royal Albert Hall (London), Suntory Hall (Tokyo), the Grand Hall of Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Saint Petersburg Philharmonia,  Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, Salle Pleyel (Paris ), Béla Bartók National Concert Hall (Budapest), Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid), Berliner Philharmoniker, Grande Auditório at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbon), the Smetana Hall in Prague , Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Gasteig in Munich, and Santa Cecilia Hall (Rome).

Algirdas Janutas has participated in various festivals in Bergen, Budapest, Schleswig-Holstein, Rheingau, Mecklenburg, and Ljubljana; at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, the Berlin Fest, the Bath Mozartfest, the Abu Gosh Music Festival, and the Richard Strauss Festival Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Algirdas Janutas is Professor at the Department of Vocal Performance of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre where he also participates in Nordplus and Intermusic project activities.
