Sakalas Uždavinys

Sakalas Uždavinys has been successfully engaged in versatile careers ranging from a teacher at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA), an actor, a theatre director, and an educator to an acting coach, associated member of GoodPeople, a learning and development company, and a glider pilot instructor.

An LMTA graduate in Acting (1984), Sakalas Uždavinys earned his MFA in Theatre Directing (supervised by Prof. Brian Richmond) at the University of Victoria, BC, Canada (2002), and obtained Doctor of Arts (under the supervision of Cezaris Graužinis and Ramunė Marcinkevičiūtė) in Theatre Directing at the LMTA (2007). His research focused on acting theory and its practical applications.

In his 40-year career as an actor and director, Sakalas Uždavinys has created over 100 characters in theatre, film and TV; has directed over 20 theatre productions, and worked with the most prominent Lithuanian directors.

Over the years, Sakalas Uždavinys has developed an exceptionally intuitive and practical method of acting training that he teaches to both full-time students and in his workshops and master classes.

Since 2006, Sakalas Uždavinys has been teaching at the LMTA. Every group of the LMTA graduates in acting supervised by Sakalas Uždavinys directs a fully mounted drama production that is highly evaluated by the faculty staff and students as well as theatre professionals.
