BACHELOR’S STUDIES

PRELIMINARY APPLICATION

Foreign candidates are recommended to apply for a preliminary evaluation, which gives the right to participate in the entrance examinations. Application for a preliminary evaluation includes:

ENTRY APPLICATION

All applicants who have demonstrated their eligibility during the preliminary application round will be invited to the entrance examinations. Centralized admission to the bachelor studies starts on 1 June. More information about Centralized admission.

Online application forms must be completed no later than 24 hours before the beginning of the entrance examination, which is indicated in the schedule of entrance examinations:

  1. Centralised admission online application form (mandatory only for EU citizens, who may apply for a state-funded study place).
  2. Lithuanian Academy of Music and theatre online application form.

The entry application includes:

  • documents (originals) witnessing secondary education, or copies certified by a Notary Public
  • recognition of education gained in a foreign country: certificate issued by the Lithuanian Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education concerning equivalents of subjects and transfer of grades (more information at www.skvc.lt)
  • copy of passport (or ID)
  • certificate in level of English or Russian language proficiency (at least B1)
  • 1 photo

ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS

Entrance examinations are organised at the Academy between June 17 and July 8.  EU citizens will be admitted in the same order as citizens of the Republic of Lithuania, and candidates may apply for a state-funded study place.

MASTER’S STUDIES

  • recognition of a Bachelor’s qualification: certificate issued by the Lithuanian Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (more information at www.skvc.lt)
  • certificate in level of English or Russian language proficiency (at least B1)
  • payment receipt of administration fee
  • 1 photo

EDUCATION EXCHANGES SUPPORT FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Lithuanian state grants for full-time Master’s degree students  to the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the People’s Republic of China, Georgia, the State of Israel, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Ukraine and foreigners of Lithuanian origin. ARTISTIC DOCTORATE STUDIES IN THE FIELD OF MUSIC

The admission to Artistic doctorate studies in English has been cancelled for international applicants for academic year 2020/2021 due to the COVID-19-caused restrictions.

LIST OF DOCUMENTS:

The following documents are to be submitted by the applicant to artistic doctorate studies: 

  • Application to the Rector (the form of the Application is available here)
  • CV and description of creative activity
  • Master’s degree diploma or an equivalent higher university education diploma and its supplement
  • Two recommendations by a recognised artist (or Doctor of Arts) and a researcher (PhD.)
  • List of the applicant’s creative works (concerts, audio/video recordings, compositions)
  • Copies of contest and festival diplomas, reviews in press, etc.
  • Master’s thesis, publications in cultural, art and scientific publications (if any)
  • Descriptor of the planned artistic research project (between 3,000 and 5,000 words; printed and electronic versions (send to email doktorantura@lmta.lt)
  • Programme of the presentation of creative work/performance (the artistic part of the entrance examination), including duration of pieces (total duration between 30 and 40 min.)
  • Questionnaire with a photo (the Questionnaire is available here)
  • Copy of the passport or ID card
  • Copy of the bank receipt confirming the payment of the entrance fee

Good English knowledge is required (Level B2 according to Common European Framework, IELTS 5-6.5, TOEFL iBT 87-109).

TUITION AND ENTRANCE FEE

PROCEDURE OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS TO ARTISTIC DOCTORATE STUDIES (detailed Descriptor of the procedure is available here)

The applicant to the artistic doctorate studies shall participate in the competition consisting of two parts:
1) the presentation of creative work;
2) the presentation of the planned art project, submission of its descriptor and an interview. 
Note: It is also requested to describe the planned creative artistic part in the descriptor of the artistic research project (Paragraph 15.2 of the Procedure Descriptor).

In the presentation of creative work, the applicant’s artistic and creative abilities, artistic maturity and professional competence are to be demonstrated. Duration of the presentation is between 30 and 40 minutes.

The presentation of the planned artistic research project consists of two parts:
a) the presentation of the project and its descriptor,
b) the interview on the matters related to the selected study field.

The presentation of the planned artistic research project consists of an oral introduction of the main ideas of the project and deliberation about the art project as well as the discussion of the applicant’s publications (if any).
During the interview, the applicant’s theoretical knowledge, their competence in the selected study field, general knowledge and ability to express their view in a founded and fluent manner are tested. 

Note: The studies are organised in English providing the group consists of no less than three international students.
