The Department of Music at the Klaipėda Faculty offers two bachelor’s degree programmes:

  • Music Studies (specialisation – Music and Education)
  • Music Performance with supplementary pedagogical studies, featuring three specialisations:
    • Choral Conducting and Organ Performance
    • Jazz and Popular Music
    • String Instruments – Guitar

Additionally, the department offers a Master’s programme in Music Performance with four specialisations:

  • Choral Conducting and Organ Performance
  • Jazz and Popular Music
  • String Instruments – Guitar
  • Orchestral Music

Community

The Department of Music consists of 49 students, supported by 31 full-time faculty members and seven pianists accompanists. The department actively engages with visiting Erasmus lecturers and guest educators, enriching its curriculum with diverse expertise in music performance. This ongoing exchange fosters a dynamic and evolving learning environment.

Collaboration and Projects

The department builds upon the legacy of past initiatives while establishing new traditions. Key events include the International Jazz Voices Conferences and Seminars for students and young jazz vocalists. Faculty members are encouraged to participate in international academic exchanges and joint projects, such as Erasmus BIP and Nordplus intensive courses, strengthening global connections and expanding students’ academic and artistic opportunities.

Students gain valuable hands-on experience through collaborations with renowned Lithuanian musicians. They actively participate and volunteer in major events, including:

  • The International Cello Festival and Competition, in partnership with Klaipėda Concert Hall
  • The National and International Student Music Olympiads, in collaboration with the Lithuanian Music Teachers’ Association

The department also maintains strong partnerships with regional music and arts schools and cultural centers in Western Lithuania, fostering a network of professional growth and artistic collaboration.
