LMTA Student Folk Instruments Orchestra
The Department of Folk Instruments encourages artistic activities among the students and teachers, and since 1952, along with other ensembles, the Student Folk Instruments Orchestra has been active. Its goal can be defined by three strands: practice of ensemble music; a base for conducting practice; and concerts. The orchestra closely cooperates with composers and has performed and recorded music premieres.
The Student Folk Instruments Orchestra is a regular participant at song festivals, student festivals and other events in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia and has performed at higher education institutions in Lithuania, Russia, Belarus, Latvia and other countries. The orchestra has released two vinyl records of music, recorded dozens of works for Lithuanian radio funds and television and participated in various recitals.
