Department of Arts Management
The Department of Arts Management was established in 2003. Currently, the department offers two specialisations in undergraduate studies within the fields of Music Studies and Theatre Arts:
- Music Industry and Production
- Theatre Production (admission every two years)
Both the Music Industry and Production and Theatre Production programmess emphasize the development of practical competencies in music and theatre production.
The department consists of 35 students and 17 practitioner lecturers, who enrich the curriculum with diverse perspectives and ensure a dynamic and evolving educational environment that keeps up with the latest developments in music and theatre production. Among the department’s faculty are professionals with extensive academic experience and active engagement in arts management, including leaders of Lithuanian concert institutions, theaters, arts incubators, non-governmental organizations, and state institutions responsible for cultural policy implementation.
Visiting lecturers from abroad provide students with a broad international context in arts management studies, while collaborative projects with young filmmakers, musicians, dancers, and theater artists studying at the Academy help students develop essential skills and a strong foundation for their future careers. The unique environment of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA) and the Audiovisual Arts Industry Incubator infrastructure serve as an excellent platform for students to implement their creative projects.
The LMTA Department of Arts Management is a member of the National Association of Creative and Cultural Industries. Additionally, its participation in the Nordplus “Act in Art” network for arts entrepreneurship opens up opportunities for student and faculty mobility, joint projects, and creative collaborations with higher education institutions in the Baltic and Nordic countries that specialize in arts management. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to undertake internships in various cultural institutions throughout Lithuania.
