The Bachelor of Arts in Dance studies programme is designed to train professional, creative contemporary and classical dance art specialists who have a good knowledge of the history, development and contexts of dance art, excellent knowledge of dance performance technique, body awareness and movement awareness. The aim of the programme is to develop dancers who are able to sustainably develop a personal artistic identity, to realise their own and others’ artistic ideas, both individually and as a team, and to engage with national and international artistic and cultural contexts.
The studies include practical group and individual practical lectures aimed at developing dancers’ physical skills in various dance techniques, improvisation and composition. Theoretical studies are designed to encourage independent analytical thinking and explore the relationship of dance art to socio-cultural contexts. The programme provides students with the opportunity to get acquainted with famous Lithuanian and foreign dancers, choreographers, teachers and their creative methods, while active participation in international mobility programmes encourages international cooperation and exchange of experience. The programme has separate specialisations in contemporary dance and classical dance.
The studies focus on the presentation and implementation of ideas for professional, artistic and social sustainability. Graduates of the programme are prepared to work as contemporary dance performers in various professional companies or dance theatres, as well as to initiate and carry out artistic dance or choreographic projects independently.
