In Lithuania, students can hold two types of student identity cards – the Lithuanian Student Identity Card (LSIC / LSP) and the International Student Identity Card (ISIC). Both provide valuable benefits, but their scope and purpose differ.

Lithuanian Student Identity Card (LSIC / LSP)

The Lithuanian Student Identity Card (LSP) is the official national document confirming student status in Lithuania.

It is recognised by all Lithuanian higher education institutions and public authorities.

After uploading your personal details and photo, your data will be confirmed by your higher education institution.

Production takes up to 14 working days after approval.

International Student Identity Card (ISIC)

The ISIC card is an internationally recognised proof of student status, valid in over 130 countries worldwide.

It gives access to over 150,000 discounts and benefits across the globe, including travel, entertainment, museums, and online services.

Why it is useful

  • Valid worldwide, especially for international students or exchange programmes

  • Discounts on flights, hostels, cultural attractions, restaurants, and online platforms (e.g. Adobe, Spotify, Booking.com)

  • Accepted by international student organisations and travel agencies

  • Can be obtained by both Lithuanian and international students

How to get ISIC
You can order ISIC through the LMTA website or directly at www.isic.lt.

The card is usually valid for one academic year and can be renewed annually.

Which card should you choose?

  • For studying and living in Lithuania → LSP is essential.

  • For international travel and global discounts → ISIC is highly recommended.

  • Many students choose to have both cards to benefit from national and international advantages.
