The Academy offers tuition by leading practitioners in a performance-based, creative and research environment. Our 240-credit, four-year Bachelor’s, 120-credit, two-year Master’s and four-year Doctoral studies in the arts provide opportunities for talented students to master their abilities to the highest level in the study areas of music, theatre, dance or film. The Academy promotes art discipline didactics and entrepreneurship by training teachers and art managers. Studies in the humanities – musicology, folk music studies, theatre and film studies – provide the latest theoretical knowledge and facilitate research in art theory, history and artistic research.
During the Bachelor’s studies, students learn how to apply knowledge, skills and attitudes artistically and creatively in selected arts studies and arts-related professions. Master’s studies help students develop distinguished and individual artistic expression, provide knowledge about practice-based research, and lead to independent study. Doctoral studies are designed for emerging artists and researchers who will be able to influence and shape the future of culture.
The Academy is open to international applicants and is admitting talented students to its Bachelor’s, Master’s and Artistic Doctorate studies (from 2019) to these study programmes: Music Performance (all specializations, see our course catalogue) and Composition.
In 2016, the new specialization Contemporary Performance, which includes Contemporary Ensemble and Contemporary Improvisation, was launched. International applicants are very welcome.
From 2019, the joint study programme ECmaster will be launched in cooperation with the European Chamber Music Academy ECMA and partner institutions Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (France), Fondazione Scuola di Musica di Fiesole Onlus (Italy), Koninklijk Conservatorium, The Hague (The Netherlands), Norges musikkhøgskole (Norway), the Royal Northern College of Music (United Kingdom), and Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (Austria).
